Happiness Is Where It's At!

I won't put much, but I would like to say that I am finally happy. It took me a while to get over things, but I think I'm finally there. I don't know how long this happiness will last, but I am definitely ready for it to stay for a while.

"A kiss is a touch that attaches two hearts, binds two souls."

Ahhh I've been in such a good mood lately. I haven't smiled this much in a long time.Such a good thing. Alright that is all for now. I'll write more soon!

This is me right now! haha

Happy Birthday to my Momma!

Happy Birthday to my Momma. The one that has been there for me through it all. Throughout my childhood, when I was off at college, through my pregnancy, in the delivery room when I had Ryan, and through the first year of my child's life. She has been there and helped me every step of the way. I would be nowhere without my mom. I love you momma! ♥

Me with my momma on my birthday last year.

And the Cutest Costume goes to...

. . .RYAN! We went to a Halloween party tonight (well technically yesterday since it's after midnight). Ryan's Halloween costume this year is a skeleton! I think he looks adorable in it, and I must not be being bias because at the party he won cutest costume. He even got a prize and a medal!

Here's my little skeleton! So freaking cute!
Here he is wearing his "cutest costume" medal!

I can't wait for Halloween this year. I'm going to let Ryan go up to a few doors this year (with me of course) since he is walking this year and I can't wait to see him being a big boy with the other kids. Oh and I get to eat his candy too so that is a plus!

Here's Ryan on Halloween last year. My cute little pumpkin certainly has changed a lot in one year!

No Longer A Baby..

Well, my baby is no longer a baby. He had his 1st birthday last Saturday. I can't believe how big he is getting. He has been walking for a month now (since September 27) and is always on the go! It seems like every day he has learned a new trick. He is such a sweet little boy and has been very affectionate lately, which Momma likes a lot!

Here's the Birthday Boy with his cakes!

It seems like a lot has happened in the past few weeks, but I can't seem to think of anything to write so I'll give a few stats on Ryan, add a couple recent pictures, and call it a post.

Ryan now has four teeth. Two on the top and two on the bottom.  We had our WIC appointment today and Ryan was just over 29 inches long and 21.5 lbs (with clothes on). He has his one year appointment on Tuesday so we will see the real stats are then. Usually WIC is a little off on the measurements. He says lots of things including ball, hello, and giraffe. His favorite toys at the moment are trucks, cars, and really anything with wheels. Ry just started taking my phone or a remote and putting it by his ear saying hello. It is the cutest thing! Also, as I already said he is walking. He hardly crawls anymore and it is a bit sad. They grow up so quickly. Every day he seems so much older!

Ryan with his Mohawk. He totally did this pose on his own. So cute.
Ryan playing with the giant chess pieces.
Ryan with his Daddy when we went to visit.
Ryan being all cute and stuff!

Has it really been two months?!??

Okay I am officially the worst blogger ever! I haven't posted since my son turned 6 months old and he turned 8 months old yesterday. I guess life has just been too busy! Between taking care of Ryan by myself and going to school, I have not had a break or the energy to sit down and think of something to write. I am going to try and get better at this. Now that Ryan is going to bed earlier and is sleeping in his crib most of the time, I have some free time at night before I go to bed. This has been great! I haven't had "me" time in a long time. I won't bore everyone with rambling, but I will post a few pictures of the past couple months! I'll also make a post about our trip to North Carolina and Georgia in the next day or two!

6 months old!

My little babe is 6 months old today! I can't believe how fast the time has gone. It seems like just yesterday that he was only a couple weeks old and now he's a half a year old. Happy half birthday to my little Ry baby.

Minutes after being born: This was my first time holding him. It was the best moment of my life.
A few days ago: He can't quite pull up like this on his own yet but he has started pulling up. He loves standing like this.  It scares me that he is getting to be this big!

I ♥ Spring!

My internet is broken right now and I've been really bad at posting but I wanted to share this picture. Me and Ryan went outside today and I LOVE this picture!

I like this one of Ryan too! He is so gosh darn cute! Ha-ha!

If You've Ever... [Things a Mommy Has Done]

If you’ve ever:

…gotten a lump in your throat while you heard the heartbeat of your baby;

…unwrapped your newly swaddled baby, completely out of curiosity;

…held the feet of an infant to your lips;

…gotten tears on your baby’s head in the middle of the night while feeding him or her;

…been so tired you handed your spouse a sippy cup instead of a beer;

…researched the cure for croup, at 3 a.m.;

…picked a tiny nose with your pinky finger;

…stumbled over your words, as you explained something so very big to someone so very small;

…wished with all your might for moments forever lost in time;

…surprisingly realized there were tears on your cheeks;

…paced the halls of your home, mentally willing a fever to break;

…wondered how it was possible for a little person to eat so much;

…wondered how it was possible for a little person to eat so little;

…discussed growth spurts, cradle cap, and the colour, consistency and smell of poop;

…were surprised at how long his little legs were getting as you re-tucked him in, before retiring for the night;

…felt warm vomit down your back as you try to calm your frightened child;

…laid awake and wondered if you could have done something better;

…heard 18 excuses why he doesn’t want to go to bed;

…bought them new shoes despite the fact you’ve had yours for 3 years running;

…baked 32 cupcakes at 10:30 at night;

(after doing a milk run in your pajamas);

…filled out a field trip form, only to worry about all the things that could go wrong;

…volunteered for that field trip to put your own mind at ease;

…stayed by the window after allowing her to bike to the variety store;

…talked candidly about sex and drugs, all the while nursing knots in your tummy;

…felt your heart soar along with his when he saved the game;

…been mad at someone else’s kid for hurting your kid’s feelings;

…taught them how to cook a meal/do a load of laundry/long division/anything, and somehow not ripped your hair out;

…been more excited than ever for Christmas morning, just to see their faces;

…spoiled them rotten when you got a few extra bucks;

…made her favorite meal, just because;

…tusseled his hair, and pulled him back for a kiss and a hug when he squirmed away;

…laid awake at night and willed time to slow down;

…thought you’d never, ever feel love like this – so raw and powerful – leaving you so very vulnerable…

…then you’re doing it right.

Just A Little Inspiration For The Mind.

 I wish I could find a guy that follows this. I am so over heart-breaks and drama and all of the other crap that guys bring along in a relationship. You think girls are divas and dramatic? Think again most guys have more drama than a normal girl they just don't always broadcast it, but somehow it still ends up ruining your life in some way. This post may make me look like I hate the male race and I don't just a lot of guys I've known/dated have been complete jerks to me. I just want one guy to prove to me that they aren't all like that. I want somebody to love me for me and not try to turn me into something that I'm not. I think this is want all of us want. After all, we are human. We want to love and be loved, but I guess some people just can't handle or accomplish the task.

Written In The Stars ♥ Tinie Tempah

Right now this is my favorite song. It has a great beat and has a good mix of sounds and different styles of music in the song. I really like the lyrics as well. Over all it's a great song, and I could put it on repeat and listen to it over and over, ha-ha. Oh, and I also really like Eric Turner.

Tinie Tempah

Written In The Stars lyrics

[Eric Turner]
Oh written in the stars
A million miles away
A message to the main
Ooooh
Seasons come and go
But I will never change
And I'm on my way

[Tinie Tempah - Verse 1]
Lets go...
Yeah
You're listening now
They say they aint heard nothing like this in a while
That's why they play my song on so many different dials
Cause I got more hits than a disciplined child
When they see me everybody brrrrrap's, brrrrrraps
Man I'm like a young gun fully black Barrack
I cried tear drops over the massive attack
I only make hits like I work with a racket and bat
Look at my jacket and hat
So damn berserk
So down to earth
I'm bringing gravity back
Adopted by the major I want my family back
People work hard just to get all their salary taxed
Look I'm just a writer from the ghetto like Malory blackman
Where the hells all the sanity at, damn
I used to be the kid that no one cared about
That's why you have to keep screaming til they hear you out

[Chorus]

[Tinie Tempah - Verse 2]

Yeah, I needed a change
When we ate we never took because we needed a change
I needed a break
For a sec I even gave up believing and praying
I even done illegal stuff and was leaded astray
They say money is the root to the evilist ways
But have you ever been so hungry that it keeps you awake
Mate, now my hunger would leave them amazed
Great, it feels like a long time coming, fam
Since the day I thought of that cunning plan
One day I had a dream I tried to chase it
But I wasn't going nowhere, running man!
I knew that maybe someday I would understand
Trying to turn a tenner to a hundred grand
Everyones a kid that no-one cares about
You just have to keep screaming until they hear you out

[Chorus repeated]

[Outro]

[End]

Photo Time.

Mark Twain Statue in Hannibal, Missouri
I took this picture from my phone when I was in Hannibal, Missouri with my grandma last May. I was actually pregnant on this trip and I have one picture of myself and I look quite hysterical. I look more bloated than pregnant.

I have always liked Mark Twain so to be in his home town and see the scenes that helped him write his stories was awesome! There were so many neat things to see. The river was beautiful, there were cute little souvenir shops, and the houses were so neat to see!

Me about 19 weeks pregnant. I look so bloated!

Rest in Peace ♥ Elizabeth Taylor

February 27, 1932 – March 23, 2011

I don't know if I would say that Elizabeth Taylor was my idol, but I did enjoy the movies that she was in. When I was younger on of the priests at my church said that I looked like Elizabeth Taylor when she played the role in "National Velvet." He called me Liz and Elizabeth all the time and never really knew my real name. Because of this, I always have like Elizabeth Taylor. I can say that I ever want to have seven husbands, but so many people looked up to her and honestly she was a beauty. If there was anybody that I would want to be compared to for looks I definitely think she is a good choice. I'm sure she will be greatly missed!

We Only Get One Life. . .

. . .So are you going to waste it, or are you going to live life to the fullest. Never having regrets. Doing your best and just living in the moment.

I don't regret things. Yes there are a few things that I wish I could change, but I don't regret doing them. Everything happens for a reason. You have to realize this and move on. Don't waste your life living in the past. It's already happened and there is nothing you can do to change it, but you can still improve the future. So focus on creating a better future for yourself and others. That is how you can live life to the fullest. Be the change that you wish to see in the world.

My Fears.

Alright, it's time for a little fact about me. I am deathly afraid of clowns (mostly the really scary ones), rubber chickens, people in chicken costumes or other full body costumes, and just chickens in general.

I use to love clowns as a kid when I went to parades, but now I get creeped out every time I see a clown, and I think it has to with the fact the I have seen way too many scary movies with clowns in them. When we were dating, Ryan's dad use to chase me around while he was wearing this awful clown mask. It made me want to cry every time. As for the chickens, I cannot stand the texture, the sound, or the appearance of rubber chickens. If I see them in a store I literally run and hide. I did this the last time I was in the mall in my town when my friend and I went into Spencer's. When the chicken dance comes on at events and the person in the costume comes out, I run in the opposite direction. Regular Chickens bother me too. They are so awkward and gross looking. I can hardly eat chicken, it really depends on how I'm feeling. Most of the time it grosses me out to much to eat it.

There's no term for the fear of rubber chickens, but the fear of regular chickens is called Alektorophobia. The fear of clowns or any person in disguise is called Coulrophobia.

I found this little saying about clowns and I thought it was kind of funny. "Big, round red noses and floppy, floppy shoes; orange fright wigs and all that makeup. You just know they can't be up to any good."

Just looking for and at these pictures makes me want to puke, yuck! But I was trying "face my fears" for you all, ha-ha.

Spring Break Adventures.

 I went to Ball State my freshman year of college. It's actually where I met Jon. I had plans to go back there this year but when I got pregnant, those plans changed. I went to visit all of my friends this past weekend during my spring break. It was a blast and it was so great to see everyone. They all got to meet Ryan and we had a relaxing time.

Mike and me recreating our picture from last year.
Before heading to Ball State, we actually went to go see Jon and his family for a few days. I was glad that we got to see them and that Ryan got to spend time with his daddy!

Over all, I had a pretty good spring break. I feel like death and want to sleep all the time now, but it was definitely worth it. Now it's time to get serious and get back to my studies because spring break is officially over and classes started back up today. Yuck!

Happy St. Patrick's Day.

I've been on spring break so I've been really bad at blogging, but I wanted to wish everybody a Happy St. Patrick's Day! My family loves this day. Ryan has a cute outfit for today. I'll post pictures a little bit later once I get him dressed. We've been a little lazy today.

Sanibel ♥

This post is going to include two pictures. They are both of the same area but they are so different and so wonderful that I couldn't decide which one I wanted to post, so I'm posting both of them.

Sanibel Island, Florida, is my family's vacation spot. We go there about every three years. I went when I was 2 1/2 years old and then we didn't go again until about 5 years ago and then 2 years ago. We plan on going again sometime during the summer of 2012. It is gorgeous there! The thing that makes it such a great vacation spot is the fact that it's not over populated with vacationers like Panama City Beach or Daytona Beach. A lot of retired people live there so it's just a nice and relaxing place to be. They have this awesome regulation (at least I think it's awesome), where buildings can only be as tall as two-stories and they don't allow many store or restaurant chains there. The only one that I can think of is Dairy Queen.  Both of these things just two of the things that make this little island so nice. I love the beach and the shelling is great there too. There are so many different kinds of shells that wash up on the beach. I cannot wait until we go again!

Oh, this post is making me want summer here so bad. I want  it to be warm and I want to be able to get my tan on! Ha-ha! Oh well, it will come soon enough!

What Is Your State Worst At?

[Click the picture to see the words larger]

I found this picture and found it really interesting. Just by looking at the this, you can tell that our states aren't in that great of shape. My state happens to be the "Least Green State." And that doesn't really surprise me. So, what's you State worst at? Are you surprised?

Christina Fact.

Okay so I've been a really bad blogger this week. Yes, I said I was going to post two posts yesterday since I wasn't able to post on Monday, but I got lazy yesterday, so today is the day! I WILL post two posts today.

Alright so for a fact about me. I am in college and am 20 years old. Last year, my freshman year of college, I attended Ball State University and was majoring in Secondary English and Speech Education. Ball State is about 2 hours away from my house and since I got pregnant, I transferred to the community college here in Lafayette. So now I go to Ivy Tech Community College and I'm majoring in Surgical Technology and then eventually Nursing. I love my med classes and I am much happier with my major. In a way it's a blessing in disguise that I got pregnant, because as I've said before, I believe that everything happens for a reason so it was meant to be!

I do however miss my friends back at Ball State and Ryan and I are planning on visiting them during my spring break for a couple of days and I am very excited to see them. Some of my friends are babysitting Ryan so that I can go out and enjoy myself a little bit!

Diaper Change Horror Help.

This is a day late because my computer overheated yesterday and stopped working for a little bit. But now that it is up and running again I will be doing two posts today so that I can keep up with my daily posts.

If you're a mom you probably know the horrors of diaper changes. The first blowout Ryan had I actually cried because I didn't know what to do. Oh the things we go through as mothers. We get pooped and peed on and yet we still love our little ones [of course]. Some babies hate diaper changes. I'm lucky that Ryan actually likes them, but now that he rolls over and likes to explore things, diaper changes have gotten extremely hard to do lately. This is what I have come up with to keep him from moving his hand every where and rolling all over the place:
 Exhibit A:

I taped a picture up on the wall for him to look at. As you can see he ripped off part of the bottom, but that was before I got smart and taped down the entire edge. He likes to try and get it down and he likes to touch the animal. He bats at the picture while I change his diaper and it has been a lifesaver. It's so much easier for me and it doesn't take forever to get him changed. I change the picture every once in a while so that he has something new to look at and play with. Obviously this won't help when you're out some place or when you don't change them on the changing table, but when you do you'll find that when they are occupied with something it's a lot easier. And the nice thing about the picture is that it doesn't get in the way like a toy does.

Dream ♥

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." --Eleanor Roosevelt
I love finding quotes like this one. They all have a deep meaning and I try to apply them to my life when I can.

I'm pretty sure...

. . . that I have a super cute baby! I may be a little bias, because he is my baby, but I mean look at those eye and his facial expression! Ahhh so cute!! I can't decide if he's going to have blue or green eyes. They tend to look more green, but as soon as I think they're changing to green, they look more blue ha-ha!

Born This Way ♥ Lady Gaga

I was going to post the actual music video instead of just the song, but I watched it and it's extremely weird and not really kid friendly so I didn't want to want to post it, but if you would like to watch it, here is the original music video for Born This Way by Lady Gaga.

I personally love Lady Gaga. I own most of her songs, if not all of them. Saying that probably makes me seem obsessive. I'm not obsessed with Lady Gaga, I just really like her music. I like the meanings of some of her words, which is why I chose to post the lyrics to her newest song 'Born This Way'. She's telling her listeners to not be afraid to be themselves. Everybody is perfect in their own way.

Born This Way lyrics

Intro:
It doesn't matter if you love him, or capital H-I-M
Just put your paws up
'Cause you were born this way, baby

Verse:
My mama told me when I was young
We are all born superstars
She rolled my hair and put my lipstick on
In the glass of her boudoir
"There's nothin wrong with lovin who you are"
She said, "cause he made you perfect, babe"
"So hold your head up girl and you'll go far,
Listen to me when I say"

Chorus:
I'm beautiful in my way
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way
Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way

Post-chorus:
Ooo there ain't no other way
Baby I was born this way
Baby I was born this way
Ooo there ain't no other way
Baby, I was born this way

Don't be a drag - just be a queen
Don't be a drag - just be a queen
Don't be a drag - just be a queen
Don't be!

Verse:
Give yourself prudence
And love your friends
Subway kid, rejoice your truth
In the religion of the insecure

I love my life I love this record and
Mi amore vole fe yah (love needs faith)

Repeat chorus + post-chorus

Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Whether you're broke or evergreen
You're black, white, beige, chola descent

Left you outcast, bullied, or teased
Rejoice and love yourself today
'Cause baby you were born this way
No matter gay, straight, or bi,
Lesbian, transgendered life

I was born to survive
No matter black, white or beige
Chola or orient made

Did you know..

Fact: Babies are born without knee caps. They don't appear until the child reaches 2-6 years of age.

I actually already knew this, but up until about a year or two ago I had no idea. I just thought our body grew, not gained new parts too ha-ha. No wonder babies have such funny looking knees. I find Ryan's kind of gross to look at sometimes because they are shaped funny.

Picture Time.

I took this picture while I was in Italy. This is in the streets of Assisi, Italy. This little town is beautiful. It's a great place to take pictures. I got some awesome black & white shots while I was there.

Daily Post.

Alright here's what I'm going to do, besides writing my normal posts when I get the chance, I'm going to have a "Daily Post" to keep my blog going when I don't have the time to write something big. Everyday of the week will be something like a quote, inspirational picture, etc.

  • Mommy Tip Monday: I'm a mom so I'll share some of my experiences with you. Tips and hints are always nice.
  • Personal Fact Tuesday: I have more time on Tuesdays, so I'll share something about myself. Just a fun fact or something like that.
  • Inspirational Wednesday: I'll post an inspirational picture of some sort. Usually having words with something to ponder or a thought picture.
  • Photography Thursday: I love taking pictures and finding really amazing ones. So I'll post some for all of you to see.
  • Fun Fact Friday: I like fun and random facts so I'll try and find some to post.
  • Song Lyric Saturday: I can't really think of anything else to do, so for now I'll post some song lyrics that I like. I eventually want to turn this day into a guest day when I get more followers.
  • Quote Sunday: I'll pick a quote that I like and post it.

Everything Happens For a Reason.

I'm a strong believer that everything happens for a reason.  No matter how hard it is, there is a reason. We may not like it, but let life guide you. My life hasn't gone how I planned it would, but it has gone so much better than I could have ever dreamed possible. Trust me, I have experience in things going wrong, but happening out for the best. I got pregnant just before I turned 19 and I'm now a single mom but honestly now that I look back at everything, I wouldn't change any of it. I like my life just the way it is, the way it's meant to be.
