4 months old [growing, growing, growing]

Ryan turned 4 months old yesterday! I can't believe how fast the time has gone. He has gotten so big! The picture above proves that! The shot on the left is the 1 month pictures that I took and in the shot on the right I put him in the same outfit and took 4 month pictures to compare and see how much he had really changed. I couldn't believe the difference. Well I can, but it was amazing to see the pictures side by side. My baby is growing up! He had his 4 month check-up today. He weighed 14.3 pounds (50 percentile) and was 26 1/4 inches long (90 percentile) and his head size was 43.5cm (80 percentile). He got two vaccinations today. One drink one and one actual shot. And he is so brave because he didn't even cry at all! He is doing so well. So strong and doing so many things. He is so close to rolling over from back to belly. He can already roll over from belly to back and is holding his head up so well! His doctor said that he could start on some food too. I will start him on easy things first of course but it looks like it's time to start baby food shopping!

Happy Valentine's Day ♥

Happy Valentine's Day or Single Awareness Day!! Whichever you are celebrating, ha-ha. I'm celebrating a little of both. I'm single, so today is just another normal day for me. Another day for me to realize how much my life sucks because I am single. So thank you Hallmark for making me realize this even  more than I already do. I try to look at the bright side of t and say that it's just because no guy is good enough for me, but I really think that's a bit cliche. This time last year I was happy with the man that I love and here I am today sitting here alone, writing about how much Valentine's Day sucks. I am however still celebrating Valentine's day with my 3 month old. He is my "date" this year.

My Valentine's Day date ♥  What a cutie! I'm sure you all are jealous!

What's Your Personality Type?

I'm taking a class called 'Critical Thinking.' It was not my idea to take this class but I have to take it to graduate so here I am taking this lovely class on how to use my brain. It's only a one credit hour class and only meets once a week but man do I ever dread going to that class. Not necessarily because of the topic of the class, but because my professor is so mono-tone. I practically fall asleep every time I'm in the class. But that is besides the point, we are actually doing something interesting in the class. He's not teaching it (Thank goodness!! ha-ha), but we are going to a seminar for two of our classes. The seminar is about the Meyer-Brigs typological approach. Before going to the first seminar we had to take an online test to see what personality type we are. We also did a personal examination at the session to see if we got the same results. Mine was spot on. Out of the 16 different personality groups, I'm an ESFJ.

Here's my short result analysis. You are:
  • very expressed extravert
  • slightly expressed sensing personality
  • moderately expressed feeling personality
  • slightly expressed judging personality
That all pretty means that I am: warm-hearted, talkative, popular, conscientious, born cooperator, active committee member. Need harmony and may be good at creating it. Always doing something nice for someone. Works best with encouragement and praise. Main interest is in things that directly and visibly affect people's lives.

If you know me you would know that that is all pretty much right on. I was amazed with my results. So what will your results be? Take the Meyer-Briggs Personality Type Test to find out.

After you find out your results, you can click on this website [http://typelogic.com/esfj.html] and find out exactly what your type means. This was one of my favorite sites. You can find more when you search it at Google. The site will pop up as my result, but all you have to do, is find yours at the top of the page and click on it. The Personality Page is also another website that has a lot of information about personalities. When you go to the page just click the little square pictures that are part of the pages toolbar.

All of this information is really interesting. It can be useful to understand yourself or others better. Enjoy! I find it all really interesting.

Useful Baby Items. [To Put On The Baby Registry or Just To Have At Home]

My friend ask for some ideas of my favorite baby items so one of her friends could get an idea of what to put on her baby registry. Here is a list of what I wrote. These are some items that I either love having or that I think are most haves in the baby nursery, or anywhere else baby may go.
  1. Bumbo Sitter and the Bumbo Tray to go with it. The Bumbo itself is great. Ryan loves sitting in it and it gives me a break, but the tray has been great for Ryan to play with toys as well. As he gets older he'll be able to eat snack while sitting in his Bumbo. This is one of my favorite items we have because it not only helps me out but it also helps him strengthen his muscles.
  2. Dozy Dolphin or the Sleep Sheep by Cloudb. We have the Dozy Dolphin and Ryan loves the music to relax or go to sleep to and the white noise ocean noise helps him stay asleep.
  3. Zipper sleepers. I would say ask for the ones that have the little flap that buttons on the top because it keeps the zipper pull down. We have some without the flap and the zipper pull pokes Ryan in the neck.
  4. Changing Pad. If you don't want to ask for an entire changing table, I would at least ask for a changing table pad with grips on the bottom. We have one that I put on top of my dresser and it works just the same as an actual changing table without the extra cost.
  5. Diapers. You can pick the brand you think you'll use, but in the end people will either get the kind they want to get you or you're baby will end up not being able to use the kind that you're wanting to use. A lot of people are all for Pampers. I'm actually a Huggies person. Ryan does much better with the Huggies. He doesn't leak near as much and to me when he wears Pampers, he always feels like he is damp on the outside of his diaper. It really all depends on the baby.
  6. Wipe Warmer. I love my wipe warmer. You don't have to have one but Ryan hated cold wipes and I had to manually warm them with my hand to make them to where he would tolerate them.  I wouldn't have purchased one myself but it was nice to get as a gift. I will add that Pampers wipes dry out right away in the warmer though.
  7. Wipe Refills. Packages of wipes are great you only need a few of the plastic boxes so the refills are nice and are good to have because you of course go though a lot of wipes.
  8. Travel Swing. I have both a full sized swing and a travel swing and I by far like the travel one a lot better. It folds up and is easy to store or take somewhere, it's less expensive, takes up a lot less room around the house, and for the most part has the same features as a full sized one.
  9. Some sort of play mat, with dangle toys. Ryan bats at his toys for quite a while and loves to kick the keys on his kicker piano toy. We have one that is a three-step toy that can be used in the toddler years as well.
  10. Bottles. I really like the NUK and Tommee Tippee bottles. Ryan takes any bottle but those are my favorites. We also have Avent, Evenflo, and Breastflow bottles. They work just fine, but bottles are another item that just depend on the baby.
  11. Bath stuff. A lot of times people will get a bunch of bath things as their gift. Washcloths, towels, sponge bath, baby shampoo, baby wash, baby lotion, a rubber duck, some bath toys. I have the sponge bath that has a temperature indicator on it and it's really nice to have. I still put in his baby tub to make sure the water doesn't get too hot (they also have ducks with the temperature thing on it too).
  12. Receiving and swaddling blankets are great for the car seat or the diaper bag.
  13. Don't be afraid to register for some "silly" or random things. I registered for baby sunglasses, a baby robe, a baby book, baby booties, a toothbrush kit, safety knobs and outlet protectors, baby oil, and baby stain remover and detergent (like Dreft). People love getting things like these because they are very practical gifts. I even registered for older things like sippy cups, spoons, bowls, etc. because there are those people that like to think ahead with their gifts and get things for you that you will need in the future. After all, your baby always needs something new.
  14. Pacifiers. I wouldn't go to crazy about pacifiers just yet. Babies are very picky when it comes to pacifiers. Some babies won't take a pacifier, some will only take a certain kind, and then there are the babies that don't really care what kind they have in their mouths as long as they have something to suck on. I registered for a certain kind and ended up taking them back because Ryan ended up liking another kind that someone had gotten him.
There are many other things that you could add to the list. Like I said before babies always need something. Just when you think you've got it all, you think of something else you need. These are just some of the things that I love having. I couldn't imagine not having some of those things.

Blog Hop! [Mom Blog Monday]

The Not-So-Secret Confessions of a First Time Mom

Now on Blogger..Introducing Myself.

I have a blog on Wordpress, that I was using while I was pregnant, but I have found that Blogger is easier to use and is more widget friendly so I am now going to be using Blogger as my main blogging site. I may occasionally go back to my old blog to update, but I will be on here more especially since all of the blogs that I read are on Blogger as well.

So here I am. I am a single mom to a 3 month old boy. I am 20 so I'm still a student. My son was not planned but I love him more than anything and wouldn't change having him for the world. I'm pretty much going to use this blog as a place to write about my life as a young mom and student. I'm trying to get through life and it is a rocky road, but it is also a journey. And I want to take my followers on that journey with me and also give a few hints and tips along the way! I'm going to try to update this as much as I can. Sometimes it gets a little crazy around here and I don't always get done what I want to, but that is the life of a mom.
